Over recent years Far-Eastern art has begun reaching a larger Western audience and while that audience may be largely unfamiliar with the artistic and cultural traditions from which these artists are emerging, there are certain reference points which have become familiar to a Western audience and which consequently provide intellectual and aesthetic anchorage.
The foundation of Far East Fine Art Ltd represents the fulfillment of a life-long ambition for Young Hong. Born and brought up in South Korea, she graduated from Korea University and Art and Design at Greenhill College, Harrow and has since combined a career in teaching and painting with motherhood. Over this period she has maintained an intense interest in the visual arts and was able to build up a strong network of contacts actively involved in the art world, both creatively and commercially.
With the recent intensification of interest from the West’s point of view in Eastern arts generally, Far East Fine Art seeks to present the very best examples over a wide range of media and styles, artists who represent the various evolving facets of Eastern Art itself and also the way in which artists are influenced not just by a Western but with a global dialogue.
Puzey’s career has for twenty years straddled academia and the art world in equal measure. After gaining degrees from both Warwick and reading Universities (M.A. Visual Arts and Literature), he gained intense working experience of the British, European and American art worlds through an early Directorship of The Owen Edgar Gallery, Belgravia, London. During this time he negotiated international art deals with private clients and museums world-wide. This led him to start his own business Simon Puzey Fine Art which specialized in the organization in London of exhibitions for emerging young artists, the building of and advising on corporate and private Art Collections.
In the late nineties he traveled extensively, living and working in Switzerland and Rome for two sabbatical years, also studied at Berne University, Switzerland.
A fascination with the shifting trends and developing tastes within the Art World underpins his continued fascination with Art generally, and gives him a certain perspective on the ever-changing aesthetic cartography of different traditions.
Our aim over the next years is to mount either group or single exhibitions in order to represent both established and emerging artists of artists both in the UK and in South Korea. If you would be interested in participating in the exhibition please email.
